See Vietnam's self-propelled air defense system destroy targets
The A72 self-propelled air defense system developed by Vietnam has just conducted a test firing and successfully destroyed a simulated target.
Information and images of this test firing were broadcast on QPVN Channel. It is known that the A72 complex participating in the test firing is a product manufactured by the Air Defense - Air Force Service in collaboration with the Military Science and Technology Institute.
This is a low-altitude self-propelled air defense system mounted on a highly mobile off-road truck chassis, controlled by a fire control device located inside the vehicle cabin.

The main components of this weapon system are four A72 shoulder-fired missiles accompanied by electro-optical observation equipment including an infrared thermal imaging camera, a daylight camera and a laser rangefinder.
Along with that, the system also has a sighting stabilization device to operate during maneuvers, ensuring observation, tracking and launching of bullets to destroy targets in all weather conditions, regardless of day or night.
Missiles and optoelectronic weapons both meet the requirements of automation, can quickly identify threats, actively follow and accurately track low-flying, small-sized targets that cling to the terrain.
The system can launch all 4 A72 missiles in 15 seconds to enhance the ability to counter massive air attacks. With this success, in the future we can upgrade with the Igla type domestically manufactured by Vietnam under license from Russia.
The most encouraging point is that many components of the low-altitude air defense missile system use domestically manufactured components, providing initiative as well as keeping the weapon's features secret.
With initial success, in the future Vietnam can completely successfully manufacture sophisticated, modern anti-aircraft missile-artillery complexes with a longer range than the A72 complex.
