New points added to university admissions by group: What should candidates pay attention to?

The 2016 university group admission has a new feature: candidates can also apply to 1 school in the group and 1 school outside the group.

On the morning of April 7, Hanoi University of Science and Technology held a press conference on the 2016 Project on autonomous enrollment by school group.

Pursuant to the 2016 University Admission Regulations, a group of 9 universities, including: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, National Economics University, Construction University, Foreign Trade University, Irrigation University, Transport University, Mining and Geology University, Hanoi University of Industry and Transport Technology, met, agreed and proposed a common admission method. The 2016 autonomous admission project by group of schools of the group of 9 schools (named the GX Group of Schools) was approved by the Ministry of Education and Training in Official Dispatch No. 1382/BGDĐT-KTKĐCLGD dated March 31, 2016.

Schools consider admission in groups based only on the results of the National High School Exam.

At the press conference, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Van Top, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that the Project on autonomous enrollment according to GX school groups is the basis for implementing a common admission method based on the results of the 2016 National High School Exam in the spirit of voluntariness and commitment to participate of a number of universities in the Hanoi area.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology is in charge of implementing the project. The admission method is built on the spirit of strictly following the 2016 Regulations on Admission to Full-time Universities and Colleges, promoting the responsibility of all schools towards candidates and society.

Firstly, the common admission method by school group is a solution to reduce the situation of "virtual admission" for participating schools. Secondly, this method creates more opportunities for candidates to choose their wishes, does not reduce the rights of candidates when registering for admission, and does not cause complexity and expense for candidates.

Third, this admission method still ensures the autonomy of schools in determining and determining the expected quota for each group of majors, regulating the conditions for admission to the school (if any), the combination of subjects for admission for each group of majors and the main exam subject (coefficient 2); the difference in standard scores between the combination of subjects for admission for each group of majors...

The admission method of the GX group has a number of principles: only considering admission based on the results of the National High School Exam, using the same admission software managed by the school, applying the same scoring method and admission method between the wishes of the major/group of majors and applying a unified priority regime in admission according to the current admission regulations.

This admission method is implemented for the first round of admission and continues for additional rounds of admission according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training (according to the admission situation of the schools).

Candidates can also apply to a school outside the group.

According to the admission method of the GX group, candidates can use the maximum number of allowed wishes of each admission round, but must arrange the wishes in order of priority in the Admission Registration Form (form designed for the GX group).

Candidates can apply to many schools in the group (for example, in the first round, candidates can apply to 2, 3 or 4 different schools in the group, but each school cannot have more than 2 wishes). Candidates can also apply to 1 school in the group and 1 school outside the GX group.

However, if a candidate has registered for 2 schools in the group in the first round or 3 schools in the group in the additional round, he/she will not be allowed to register for admission to a school outside the group. Admission principle: If a candidate is admitted according to a higher choice, the following choices will not be considered.

Admission scores for a group of majors are based only on the exam results (converted to the consideration score) of the candidates and the assigned quota, regardless of the order of wishes (1, 2, 3 or 4) among the candidates who have registered for that group of majors.

Candidates can register according to their first choice school (online or send the registration form by post), candidates can also submit the registration form directly at any school in the group.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Tran Van Top, up to this point, the Banking Academy has agreed to join – the 10th member of the GX group. The GX group can continue to “admit” other universities to participate on a voluntary basis and accept the Project that has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training. The deadline for schools to register to join the GX group is before April 22, 2016.

In the coming time, GX Group will establish a Steering Committee for school group admissions to direct the implementation of technical stages of the admission process./.
