(Baonghean.vn) - On November 20, Nghe An Provincial People's Court brought the case of Ho Tien Bao (born in 1992, residing in Hoa Hieu Ward, Thai Hoa Town) and his accomplices to trial for the crimes of theft of property and consumption of property obtained by others through criminal acts.

According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, the criminal acts of the defendants were clarified: in the period from September to December 2013, taking advantage of the negligence of vehicle owners in Vinh city, the subjects Bao, Hoang Ngoc Nam (born in 1993), residing in the same ward as Bao, Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1991), Chu Ngoc Hung (born in 1992), both residing in Long Son ward, Thai Hoa town, and Bui Duc Thang (born in 1992, residing in Hoi Son commune, Anh Son district) together committed 45 cases of car mirror theft. Specifically, as the leader, although not directly stealing, Bao was responsible for the consumption stage with the value of the theft being over 700 million VND. Van Hung was the direct participant in 41 cases with the value of the theft being over 680 million VND. Ngoc Hung directly participated in 4 cases with the value of the theft being over 50 million VND. Playing a lower role than the two defendants Thang and Nam, he committed 3 cases with the amount of money stolen being over 37 million and 49 million VND.

After stealing the property, due to his previous acquaintance with Tuong Cong Tin (born in 1983, residing in Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province), Bao asked Tin to sell the property that Bao and his accomplices had stolen, worth more than 600 million VND. Although he knew clearly that the property was from crime, Nguyen Tien Dung (born in 1966, residing in Pho Hue ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) still bought the above property due to greed. After opening a special investigation, Nghe An police agency destroyed and arrested him.

At the trial, the defendants sincerely confessed their crimes and showed remorse. After reviewing the evidence and the level of each defendant's crimes, the panel sentenced Bao and Nguyen Van Hung to 12 years in prison each, Chu Ngoc Hung to 3 years in prison, Nam to 18 months in prison, and Thang to 12 months in prison, but with a suspended sentence, for theft; Tin to 7 years in prison, and Dung to 3 years in prison, but with a suspended sentence, for receiving property obtained by others through crime. In addition, the five defendants Bao, Nam, Thang, Van Hung, and Ngoc Hung were ordered to pay compensation of more than 100 million VND, the amount of money they had appropriated from the victims.
