'Thanh Chuong Soviet' established the first Soviet government in Nghe Tinh
On September 1, 1930, with great enthusiasm, the Party Committee and people of Thanh Chuong rose up to fight and win, establishing the first Soviet government in Nghe Tinh.
This historic struggle became a source of encouragement and motivation for the people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces at that time to fan the Soviet flame on this sacred land of talented people but with much pain and loss due to the rule of the colonial and feudal government.

Promoting the spirit of patriotism, under the leadership of the Party and Party organizations in Thanh Chuong district, on September 1, 1930, a historic struggle took place with the participation of more than 20,000 people (accounting for 1/3 of the population in the whole district).
The sound of drums, gongs, and gongs from the villages and from the Vo Liet communal house resounded like thunder, urging the barefoot, steel-willed Thanh Chuong people to stand up and fight directly against the enemy, terrifying the imperialists and their lackeys.
The ferry trips across Lam River to besiege and destroy the District Office carried with them many dreams and earnest aspirations of the people living in misery and slavery. The strength of the masses' struggle caused the district and canton governments to quickly disintegrate. District Chief Phan Sy Bang was frightened and abandoned his post to flee for his life. The dense system of military posts such as Rao Gang, Dang Market, Bich Thi, Thanh Qua, Lap, etc. were all paralyzed, and from then on the district Party cells began to operate openly.

At Vo Liet communal house (now a National Historical Relic), the Soviet government worked day and night to bring a new life to the people. This was a form of workers' government under the leadership of the Party cell. At that time, Thanh Chuong district had 35 cells with 270 party members, leading the worker-peasant government to immediately implement the basic rights of the masses such as abolishing land rent, taxes, etc.
The Red Peasant Association Executive Committee has taken power in 65/76 villages and communes, with more than tens of thousands of members, of which the Women's Liberation Association members account for 32% of the province's members, the Communist Youth Union ranks second in the province, the Red Relief Association members rank third in the province, and more than 1,000 Red Self-Defense members...
In some places, Party cells held public meetings and mobilized the people to participate in the revolutionary movement. The people's struggle schedule was calculated day by day, week by week, and month by month.
The struggle on September 1, 1930 of the people of Thanh Chuong went down in history, marking the birth of the first Soviet government of both Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement.
Although before that, the struggles of the masses in Nghe Tinh took place very vigorously, such as the struggles of workers and farmers in Vinh - Ben Thuy on May 1, 1930, farmers in Can Loc on August 1, 1930, farmers in Nam Dan on August 30, 1930... but they still did not bring power into the hands of the people.
Therefore, the struggle of Thanh Chuong people made the District Chief abandon his seal and flee, 35 village chiefs also bowed their heads and handed over their books and seals to the worker-peasant government... which became the common pride of Nghe Tinh people in the revolutionary movement under the glorious flag of the Party in 1930-1931.

In this life-and-death struggle, comrade Nguyen Cong Thuong and many other cadres and people heroically fell before the enemy's guns. After the struggle, the enemy tried to sweep and terrorize, many party cadres were eliminated, even had their throats cut, and their heads displayed at crossroads to intimidate the fighting spirit of the masses. Many comrades were imprisoned, tortured, and tortured in the hells on earth of the imperialist government, even pregnant women were killed by them...
In 1930-1931 alone, in Thanh Chuong, more than 2,000 people were arrested, 579 people were imprisoned, 565 people died heroically, nearly 200 people were tortured and died in prison, 169 party members were executed...
But overcoming all those pains and losses, the flame of patriotism and hatred for the enemy burned even brighter in the hearts of every patriotic Thanh Chuong child. The more the enemy oppressed, the more the people's fighting spirit rose like an unstoppable rising tide.
94 years have passed, but the heroic spirit of the Nghe Tinh Soviet still exists forever with the history of the nation, and the heroic battles of the Nghe Tinh people in general, and the Thanh Chuong people in particular, in this revolutionary movement always remind us of a boiling period of the working class under the guiding light of the Party.
The names of the Party's senior cadres such as Dang Thuc Hua, Dang Thi Quynh Anh, Dang Thai Mai, Nguyen Sy Sach, Ton Gia Tinh, Ton Gia Chung, Vo Thuc Dong, Ton Thi Que, Ton Quang Phiet, Le Canh Nhuong, Tran Huu Doanh... will forever become the pride of generations of Thanh Chuong children across the country.
