The dirt road running through the village gate in a commune of Ha Tinh province is located on one side, only wide enough for motorbikes and bicycles to pass; cars must take a detour to enter.

In early January 2018, the People's Committee of Tuong Son commune (Thach Ha district) started construction of the Bac Binh cultural village gate, with a budget of 76 million VND, mobilized from socialized sources.

A month later, the project was completed. The gate was 4.5 m wide, about 4 m high, with a roof on top and 4 yellow painted pillars.

According to many locals, the strange thing is that the village gate was built right on an irrigation ditch, with the pillars on both sides being fences of houses and rice fields. The dirt road running through the gate is about 50 meters long, tucked away on one side, and is only wide enough for motorbikes and bicycles to pass through; cars wanting to enter have to take a detour.

Mr. Duong Kim Huy, Chairman of Tuong Son Commune People's Committee, said that the commune has a project to build a road (filling the ditch) and a village gate. The government has agreed with the people to build the gate first because the cost is less, and the commune will soon start building the road with an investment of 150 million VND.

"When the gate is finished but the road is not completed, it is really unsightly and not harmonious. The commune admits this shortcoming. When we complete the road and gate, the problem will be solved," said Mr. Huy.

Mr. Huy said so.Since the government built the gate, people have suggested that the road should be built before the gate, otherwise it would create a strange image."Many people think the gate is not in the right direction," said Mr. Huy.
