Heartbroken young man with muscular dystrophy

(Baonghean.vn) - Since childhood, Nguyen Van Cong, hamlet 5, Hung Tien commune (Nam Dan) has suffered from a serious illness, total muscle atrophy. Every day, every hour, he has to fight the disease to fight for his life.

In a simple tiled house, Nguyen Van Cong (born in 1990) is lying curled up on the bed, his body is just skin and bones. While taking care of his poor brother, Nguyen Thi Thuong, Cong's younger sister, shared: Cong was born healthy like everyone else, but when he was 12 years old, his body suddenly became exhausted, his legs and arms, along with his body, gradually atrophied, forcing him to lie in bed. For decades, all his activities have depended on his parents. Kind neighbors often came to help, some gave him butter, rice, a little money...

Loving their son, Cong's parents took him to many hospitals, but this terrible disease was difficult to cure and treatment mainly relied on physical therapy. Doctors advised the family to take Cong to a higher level hospital for treatment. Although the family was poor, Cong's parents borrowed money to take Cong to Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi) for treatment.

Luckily, I met a Singaporean doctor who was working at this hospital. Based on the test results, this doctor concluded: "The muscles lack nutrients, leading to muscle atrophy throughout the body, requiring surgery." Due to the complexity of the disease, surgery was required at a Singaporean hospital. If not treated promptly, the disease would develop complications and endanger life.

Currently, Mr. Cong has health insurance for the poor to help him buy medicine every day, but for this disease, he still has to buy many other "special" medicines from outside which are very expensive.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong's eyes filled with tears: "Seeing my son like this breaks my heart, but unfortunately the family's circumstances are poor, the cost of surgery abroad is too high, we sold all our assets, borrowed from relatives but we still don't have enough money for treatment."
