The trend of local Party newspapers simultaneously applying to publish online newspapers

At the May 2016 State Management Conference of the Ministry of Information and Communications held on the afternoon of June 6, 2016, Deputy Director of the Press Department Nguyen Thanh Lam said: “In May 2016, the Department completed the procedures to submit to the Minister for licensing and amending the operating licenses for 23 print press agencies and magazines. There is a tendency for print press agencies to simultaneously apply to publish online newspapers, especially local Party newspapers.”

“Also in May 2016, the Department prepared a document to submit to the Ministry's leaders for signing and agreeing to appoint 32 editors-in-chief and deputy editors-in-chief for print and electronic press agencies according to their functions and tasks,” Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam added.

Reviewing some other outstanding activities in May 2016 of the Press Department, Deputy Director Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized some activities such as: Regarding the National Assembly and People's Council elections, the Press Department focused on monitoring and directing press agencies from the central to local levels to propagate the election nationwide with high frequency, focusing on exploiting the atmosphere of the election day, the developments and results of the election.

The Press Department has coordinated with VNA to create a photo exhibition and DVD with the theme "President Ho Chi Minh and the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies" to send to the Departments of Information and Communications to conduct election propaganda work.

In addition, the Press Department has also actively organized training and disseminated the spiritual content of the revised Press Law.

Regarding the key work in June 2016, Deputy Director of the Press Department Nguyen Thanh Lam paid special attention to preparing content to work with the press management agency to implement the project of planning press development and management.

“This week, the Press Department will prepare to work with Quang Ninh province on the project to rearrange the province’s press agencies. Coordinating with the competent authorities to implement the press planning will be part of the Department’s monthly work in the coming time,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam.

Also in June, the Department will carry out many other activities such as: Organizing a training course on journalism skills "Skills in reporting and propagandizing political, economic and social target programs" for Lao journalists in the capital Vientiane - Laos (from June 6 - 10, 2016);

Prepare procedures to welcome a delegation of Cambodian journalists to visit and work in Vietnam according to the Memorandum of Cooperation; Continue to summarize, update and carry out procedures for issuing and renewing press cards for the period 2016 - 2020 (currently submitting to the Ministry's leaders for the second batch of card renewal this year);

Preside over and coordinate the organization of the exhibition "Vietnam's integration and development through the perspective of the press" within the framework of the exhibition with the theme "Vietnam, the country and people - Seen from the sea and islands" abroad as planned.
