On the morning of July 14, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) held an online conference to review the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2017. In the field of public telecommunications, the Ministry continues to deploy the provision of public telecommunications services until 2020; supporting digital terrestrial investment for poor and near-poor households in localities.
In the postal sector, network exploitation, transportation and delivery activities are stable. In the IT sector, the Ministry continues to implement major projects, develop the IT industry, apply IT, ensure information security to promote socio-economic development, national defense and security. Total revenue from the IT industry in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at 31.34 billion USD, up 15% over the same period in 2016, of which the hardware industry accounts for over 91%.
In addition to the achieved results, the Ministry of Information and Communications pointed out the shortcomings and limitations such as the commercialization of the press with uncultured, inhumane and anti-educational publishing. Some press agencies and journalists abuse their positions and jobs for personal gain... which undermines public trust in the press.
