Strictly handle corruption cases to maintain people's trust
Conducting a strict trial will certainly regain the trust of cadres, party members and people in the fight against degradation and negativity.
Public opinion these days is paying special attention to two ongoing trials, in which the defendant was a former high-ranking Party official. That was the trial of defendant Dinh La Thang and 21 other defendants for the crime of intentionally violating State regulations on economic management causing serious consequences, and embezzlement of assets occurring at the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC).
Also during this time, the trial of Pham Cong Danh, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Construction Bank; Tram Be, former Permanent Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sacombank and 44 accomplices was taking place for the crime of "Intentionally violating State economic regulations causing serious consequences".

Public opinion also believes that such a public trial has strengthened people's trust in the Party, in the determination of the Politburo and the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption led by the General Secretary, creating a major movement today that no member of the Party can stand aside from, cannot consider it someone else's business. It further proves the guiding viewpoint of "no forbidden zones", "no safe landing".
Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Hung, former officer of the General Department of Security, Ministry of Public Security, said that ai also has advantages and disadvantages. Previously, our Party has not been very strong, but this time it is clear and public, regardless of high-ranking officials, if there are mistakes, Party discipline will still be strictly implemented to resolve them. Only by disciplining according to regulations can the Party become strong. The disclosure of information creates the strength of the Party.
The fight against corruption and waste of time has been resolutely carried out by the entire political system. A series of major corruption cases have been brought to trial, many high-ranking officials have been handled, disciplined and widely informed to the masses. That shows the unity in awareness of the entire Party, the entire political system and the entire society. It is not only the determination to prevent and repel corruption, causing economic losses, impoverishing the country with major corruption cases worth hundreds of thousands of billions of dong, but through this struggle, the Party has been made clean and strong. Or as President Ho Chi Minh once said: "making the Party strong".
Through the fight against corruption, we not only discipline and try violators but also create solidarity and unity within the Party, making the Party clean, strong, capable of fighting, and performing its leadership and governing role in the new situation.
Associate Professor, Doctor Bui Dinh Phong, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, said: “Party members who are disciplined must be dealt with in accordance with Party discipline. That is not an internal struggle, destroying factions, but the way of a true revolutionary party, for the people, the Party self-criticizes and criticizes. Any violations must be dealt with accordingly. The history of communist parties has always been like that. Each time like that only increases the Party's strength and increases the people's trust."
Recently, in his article on the occasion of the New Year of Mau Tuat 2018, former President Truong Tan Sang expressed his thoughts: “If corruption and degradation are not eliminated, where will this Party, this regime, and this country go? Historians never write the word “if”. That is why right now, the Party and those who hold the role of steering the country must act resolutely.”
Former President Truong Tan Sang also believes that the work of exposing and washing away the dirt and negativity will not stop, but from now on, with the faith that has been awakened, the whole country will unite and join forces to eradicate the internal invaders. At the end of the article, former President Truong Tan Sang emphasized: "The people always stand by the Party, wholeheartedly following the Party with both reason and heart to carry out this struggle to the end."
Professor Hoang Chi Bao, former member of the Central Theoretical Council, said that to maintain the people's trust, the Party must be extremely morally pure.
“The ruling party falling into degradation and degeneration was Uncle Ho’s greatest concern. Therefore, he paid special attention to fighting bureaucracy and corruption, and more deeply, fighting internal invaders and individualism. As for the ruling revolutionary party, the greatest danger is the danger of being far from the people, the danger of being detached from practical life and making decisions that do not please the people. Therefore, only when the Party is clean can it be strong, and that is the condition of revolutionary morality,” Professor Hoang Chi Bao analyzed.
The fight against corruption must now become a mass movement, not just the private affair of the Party, the State, or the government. Once it becomes a mass movement, with the people supporting and joining forces with the Party and the State, the fight against corruption will achieve solid results, continuing to consolidate and enhance the people's trust in the Party and the country./.
