The Hua Na Hydropower Project (Que Phong district) is nearing completion and is scheduled to begin trial operation on January 29, 2013. The project has a total investment of 7,100 billion VND, comprising two generating units with a capacity of 180 MW. Since construction began, the land and lives of the local people have undergone significant changes. To contribute to the national electricity supply, 1,362 ethnic minority households in Que Phong have had to leave their homes and relocate to new settlements.

To understand the rhythm of life of the people in their new homeland, especially in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, reporters from Nghe An Newspaper went to visit the people and recorded some images at 2 out of the 13 resettlement sites of the Hua Na Hydropower Plant...



The residents of Bản Hủa Na 2, part of the Huổi Sai resettlement area in Thông Thụ commune, have been relocated there for 6 months.



In Piêng Cu 1 village, Tiền Phong commune, the first resettlement site of the project, residents have been living there for over two years.



Children attend a half-day program at Piêng Cu Kindergarten.



Transporting tourists on the reservoir of the hydroelectric power plant is a new occupation for the people of Dong Van commune.
