The shortcut called S-GPT allows users to integrate the ChatGPT chatbot into the native system features of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS.

S-GPT (Shortcuts-GPT) is essentially a free shortcut developed by Federico Viticci. Users still need to sign up for a paid subscription to use OpenAI's service. The shortcut is just there to make the ChatGPT integration process easier.

According to the developer, S-GPT leverages OpenAI's low-cost API, which explains why users need to be granted access to PAYG payments. Currently, this shortcut can be used with ChatGPT 3.5 or ChatGPT 4 models if the user has access.

From the screenshots posted by Viticci, the shortcut looks like a regular iPhone app and pops up similar to Siri notifications. It only supports text, and the developer says there is “no limit to the length of the question.”

The keyboard shortcuts also support chat mode so users can use it just like on a computer. S-GPT will retain the context of the previous conversation and allow each conversation to be reviewed in a single file.

Viticci explains that the impetus for creating this shortcut was to expand the app's integration, as well as Microsoft's move to bring ChatGPT to Windows - something that almost certainly won't happen on Apple's platforms.

ChatGPT’s progress further demonstrates how far Siri has fallen behind in the AI race. To date, unlike Microsoft or Google, the “Apple House” has made no move to develop a model similar to ChatGPT.
