This summer-autumn crop, the entire Ky Son district planted more than 662 hectares of rice. Currently, leaf rollers have appeared in some areas. The common density of leaf rollers is 30-40 individuals/m2, in high places 50-70 individuals/m2, 4-5 year old generation.

The most concentrated areas of pest infestation are in the communes of Nam Can, Huu Kiem, Huu Lap, Chieu Luu... In addition to leaf rollers, white-backed planthoppers have also begun to bloom.

Many areas of winter-spring rice in Ky Son district are infested with leaf rollers.

This is a generation of worms that can develop at high density over a large area, greatly affecting the growth and development of rice plants.

The People's Committee of Ky Son district has issued an urgent dispatch directing functional branches with many solutions to suppress leaf roller and white-backed planthopper epidemics, focusing on strengthening propaganda work for farmers to regularly check, closely monitor fields and properly implement regulations on epidemic suppression measures.

In Que Phong, in the 2016 crop season, the district planted more than 2,200 hectares, mainly TH5-3, Japonica, Hybrid rice, Nhi Uu 98, and some other pure rice varieties.

500 hectares of winter-spring rice in Que Phong district are infected with leaf rollers.

Recently, in Que Phong district, there have been many heavy and light rains, which are ideal conditions for pests to develop. At this time, the whole district has over 500 hectares of rice damaged by pests. In some places, the density of brown planthoppers is up to 1,500 - 2,000 individuals/m2, the 6th generation of small leaf rollers has an average density of 6-8 individuals/m2.

At this time, 13 communes of Que Phong district have proactively provided medicine to farmers and sprayed pesticides to kill pests. At the same time, they have encouraged people to continue to stay in their fields and understand the development of pests and diseases to have timely and effective prevention measures.
