(Baonghean) - Last week, the Reader Relations Department of Baonghean Newspaper received several reader comments sent to the Editorial Office. The content is as follows:

We need to protect and develop the honeybee population.

Pu Mat National Park has preserved its nearly pristine state. In previous years, the forest was home to many beehives on cliffs and ancient tree branches, and featured many fruit trees such as chestnut, mulberry, lychee, and wild longan. The buffer zone also had many fruit trees and vegetables. For nearly a decade, the demand for wild honey has increased, leading people to hunt bees to make honey wine for sale. The price of a 650ml bottle of wild honey, which used to cost only 50,000-60,000 VND, has now risen to 200,000-250,000 VND. Driven by greed, people have been burning beehives to collect honey and even taking entire bee colonies to make wine, leading to the extinction of the wild bees. Furthermore, pesticides have killed or driven away the bees, making the honey supply increasingly scarce. In addition, orchards, cornfields, and vegetable gardens struggle to pollinate and bear fruit when flowers bloom without bees.

Wild bees provide sweet honey, a special source of nutrition, a valuable tonic, and also help pollinate plants, leading to bountiful harvests. Protecting and developing the bee population in Pu Mat National Park is an urgent task. Therefore, given the risk of wild bees in Pu Mat National Park being wiped out, it is crucial for relevant authorities to intervene and take measures to protect the bee population: Strictly prohibit people from entering the forest to burn beehives for honey; appropriate methods must be used for honey harvesting. Absolutely prohibit catching young bees to soak in alcohol; the Forest Protection Department needs to strengthen inspections and take strict measures to deter and educate. In addition, it is necessary to develop projects to promote domestic bee populations; launch a movement to raise bees for honey production and develop bee colonies.

Dien Truong Primary School is in a state of disrepair.

Established in 1964, Dien Truong Primary School (Dien Chau district) is now in a state of severe disrepair: classrooms are stained and cracked; wall surfaces are peeling; classroom doors are loose and infested with termites; rafters and beams are crumbling; the playground area has not been paved with cement, and students still have to play on the grass and gravel... Currently, 516 students at the school still have to study in these old, unsafe classrooms.

Dien Truong Primary School is in serious disrepair.

Every year, the school mobilizes contributions from parents, but the funds are only enough to repair minor damages; it's a temporary solution. During the rainy season, the classrooms leak, water splashes in, soaking students' books and forcing them to miss school or move to multi-purpose classrooms.

Five years ago, the school received approval for a project to reinforce school buildings, classrooms, and teacher housing according to a government decree. However, due to obstacles in the local government's matching funds (30% of the total cost must be contributed by the local government), the project has not yet been implemented, and the school has not been rebuilt; the worry about safety remains constant as the rainy and stormy season approaches.

Upgrade National Highway 48B section passing through Quynh Ba commune soon.

National Highway 48B, the section passing through Quynh Ba commune (Quynh Luu district), is nearly 2km long. This road plays a crucial role in the transportation of local people as well as trade from coastal communes to National Highway 1A. Currently, this road is in serious disrepair.

Particularly in the sections passing through hamlets 1, 2, 3, and 8 of Quynh Ba commune, the road surface is peeling off in patches, with numerous potholes; some potholes are more than 40 cm deep and lie close together, making it difficult for vehicles to travel, especially during the rainy season.

During community meetings and voter outreach sessions at the commune and district levels, this issue has been raised with the relevant authorities. However, to date, this road has still not been repaired or upgraded.

It is suggested that the relevant authorities should quickly investigate and take measures to repair and upgrade National Highway 48B. This will ensure safe travel for the people and contribute to the economic development of the district.
