After that time, users will no longer be able to log in, send messages or access Yahoo chat services via third-party applications.

Sau thời điểm trên, người dùng sẽ không thể đăng nhập, gửi tin nhắn hay truy cập vào dịch vụ chat của Yahoo qua các ứng dụng bên thứ 3 nữa.

In its latest statement today, Yahoo said it will soon kill off the Messenger application on August 5. Currently, Yahoo's homepage has stopped providing old versions of Messenger, but the company's representative confirmed to Venture Beat that after that time, users will no longer be able to log in and send messages via Yahoo Messenger.

Born in the late 1990s with the original logo of the classic "Y!", Yahoo Messenger has become a favorite choice of Western stock investors as well as users in many Asia Pacific countries, including Vietnam. However, with the strong rise of Facebook and many OTT applications on mobile, Yahoo Messenger is increasingly used by fewer people and has now been replaced by a product of the same name but with more advanced features, operating on more platforms.

Yahoo's official statement said:

"In December 2015, we launched a new Yahoo Messenger app for mobile, Web, and Yahoo Mail (desktop) built on a completely new platform. This innovation gives users a fast, beautiful, and smart way to send (and recall) messages, group messages, 1:1 photos and GIFs.

While we currently allow compatibility between the legacy Messenger app and the new Messenger platform, we encourage our users to complete the transition as quickly as possible as the legacy app will be discontinued on August 5, 2016. We will continue to focus our efforts on the new Messenger with the goal of providing the best experience for our users."

Sau thời điểm trên, người dùng sẽ không thể đăng nhập, gửi tin nhắn hay truy cập vào dịch vụ chat của Yahoo qua các ứng dụng bên thứ 3 nữa.

All Messenger apps on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS will be discontinued after that date.

Yahoo is also in turmoil, having discontinued several products in recent months. The company is also looking to sell its Internet services business but has yet to find a potential buyer.
