Yesterday afternoon (October 18), the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption worked with the Standing Committee of Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee on the draft report on the results of inspection and supervision of case inspection, prosecution, investigation, prosecution, and trial of serious and complicated corruption and economic cases of public concern in Yen Bai province.

Accordingly, during the internal inspection process, Yen Bai discovered and disciplined 3 Party organizations and 127 Party members involved in corruption and economic violations and recovered and paid to the State budget more than 500 million VND. The audit discovered and recommended financial handling of 207 billion VND.

The authorities have recovered more than 1.6 billion VND, more than 2,400 m2 of land, restored rights to 336 citizens with the amount of 1.77 billion VND and more than 88,000 m2 of land, recommended administrative handling of 40 people, discovered an economic violation case, and transferred it to the investigation agency for handling according to the law through resolving complaints and denunciations.

Yen Bai's inspection sector concluded 287 inspections that discovered economic and other violations with a total amount of over 51 billion VND, and recommended disciplinary action against 9 people, including 8 party members, by the Party and government.

However, anti-corruption work in Yen Bai still has some limitations: the number of inspections detecting economic violations is high but no cases with signs of crime have been detected to recommend prosecution and investigation; the investigation, prosecution and trial of corruption and economic cases still have some shortcomings; the rate of asset recovery from economic cases is still low...

The working group recommended that the Standing Committee of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee continue to lead and direct anti-corruption work, detect and strictly handle corruption and economic cases. In the immediate future, direct the inspection of projects on auctioning land use rights, leasing land, allocating land for urban infrastructure development, agricultural and forestry land; granting licenses for mineral exploration and exploitation; rural clean water projects...

Direct the prosecution agencies to seriously review, learn from experience, and overcome limitations in granting defendants suspended sentences; thoroughly handle three cases reported by the press and of public concern related to officials under the management of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee.
