Yen Thanh: Announcement of mushroom products meeting VietGAP standards.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 20, 2015, Yen Thanh district held a conference to announce mushroom products that met VietGAP standards. Mr. Le Van Khuong, Deputy Head of the Sub-Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Product Quality Management; and representatives from the Regional Quality Management Center II attended the conference.
Yen Thanh district annually supplies hundreds of tons of fresh and dried mushrooms to the market. Thanks to various policies supporting seed production, infrastructure, and the transfer of scientific and technological advancements, more than 80 households in the 24 communes of Yen Thanh district now maintain mushroom production, including 2 large-scale farms with sterilization ovens and 15 small-scale farms. The district has also established the Doan Ket Mushroom Production Service Cooperative, which supplies seeds and finds markets for mushroom growers. In 2014 alone, Yen Thanh produced over 390 tons of various types of mushrooms, generating nearly 7 billion VND in revenue and creating stable jobs for hundreds of workers.

To meet market demands for clean and safe products, with the support of the Sub-Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Product Quality Management and the Sub-Department of Quality Management Region II, producers have been directly advised on the construction, arrangement, and upgrading of facilities, equipment, and clean mushroom production processes. To date, the Doan Ket Mushroom Service Cooperative (Nam Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district), with four locations including Nam Thanh, Ly Thanh, Son Thanh, and Tan Thanh, has been certified as meeting VietGAP (Good Agricultural Practices) standards. This creates favorable conditions for improving quality, lowering costs, and building a brand, giving both producers and consumers more confidence in mushroom products, leading to a stable and sustainable long-term income.
At the conference, Yen Thanh district also implemented its mushroom production plan for 2015, striving to achieve 510 tons of various types of mushrooms.
