Yen Thanh: High-quality AC 5 rice variety yields an average of 6.8 tons/ha.

(Baonghean.vn) - On August 22nd, Vinh Hoa Co., Ltd. (Yen Thanh) collaborated with the Yen Thanh District Women's Union and the District Department of Agriculture to organize a field workshop on the high-quality AC5 rice production model for the 2015 summer-autumn crop in Hop Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district. Attending the workshop were Mr. Pham Xuan Can, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, along with representatives from district and commune-level departments and local people from Hop Thanh commune.

The AC 5 rice variety, developed by the Institute of Food Crops and Food, is characterized by its short growing season, high yield, and delicious rice quality. The AC 5 rice model covers 12 hectares, involves 70 households, and is funded by the Vietnam Women's Union.

Practical experience in the summer-autumn crop season shows that: The AC5 variety has a growth period of 98-100 days, effectively tillers, is resistant to pests and diseases, is suitable for various soil types, has a fast flowering and ripening time, produces delicious rice, and has an average yield of 6.8 tons/ha. Vinh Hoa Co., Ltd. guarantees the purchase of the product from farmers. The price of paddy rice is high, at 730,000 VND/quintal, while hybrid rice fetches 530,000 VND/quintal. This summer-autumn season, Vinh Hoa Co., Ltd. estimates it will purchase over 7,000 tons from farmers.
