Yen Thanh urgently suppresses blue ear disease in pigs
(Baonghean.vn) - After two outbreaks appeared in Hung Thanh and Van Thanh communes, on October 29, 2016, in Yen Thanh district, a new outbreak of blue ear disease appeared in Bao Thanh commune.
To date, nearly 120 pigs have been destroyed by local authorities in coordination with veterinary agencies. In epidemic areas and neighboring areas, functional forces are focusing on implementing measures to handle and control the spread of the disease.

The household of Mr. Nguyen Viet Hoat - Son Thanh hamlet, Hung Thanh commune is the first place where the epidemic broke out in the district. Up to now, after more than 10 days of the destruction of a herd of 29 pigs with a total weight of over 2.5 tons due to the epidemic, he is still focusing on the work of handling the environment and pathogens. "Since the epidemic broke out, every day I spray disinfectant chemicals around the barn, in addition, every 5 days I sprinkle lime powder once, not only around the barn but also the entrance to prevent the spread of pathogens to the surrounding environment" - Mr. Nguyen Viet Hoat said.

Meanwhile, at the border points with surrounding communes, Hung Thanh commune has set up 5 checkpoints, with functional forces on duty 24/7 to prevent pigs and pig products from entering and leaving the epidemic area. According to Mr. Le Dinh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, Hung Thanh has been provided with 84 liters of Bencocid chemicals and 1,600 doses of Blue Ear vaccine to fight the epidemic. Up to now, the commune has vaccinated all 1,517 pigs over 7 days old in the area.

In other epidemic areas, epidemic control work has also been urgently carried out. Communes in epidemic and threatened areas have been provided with 274 liters of chemicals and 14 tons of lime to disinfect epidemic areas, threatened epidemic areas, high-risk areas, main traffic routes in and out of epidemic areas, livestock areas, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: Currently, Yen Thanh is focusing on the work of suppressing the epidemic, encircling and controlling it from spreading to other areas. Directing communes that have not been affected by the epidemic to focus on propaganda, regularly inspect and monitor to be able to detect the epidemic early, and have timely measures to prevent the epidemic from spreading.
