Yen Thanh: Nearly 50kg of yam discovered.

(Baonghean.vn) - While digging around the base of a yam plant, Mr. Nguyen Ba Hung's family (46 years old, residing in Hamlet 5, Lien Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, Nghe An Province) unearthed a strangely shaped yam weighing nearly 50kg.

The giant yam weighs nearly 50kg.

Mr. Hung said that around February 2014, his wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Vy (45 years old), went to the market and bought some yam tubers to plant as seeds. On February 25, 2015 (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), he went to the garden to dig up the soil around the base of the yam tubers and discovered that the upper part of the tubers was unusually large, so the whole family dug them up to see.

After weighing and measuring, the potato measured approximately 65cm in height, 80cm in length, and weighed nearly 50kg.

Upon hearing that the family had unearthed a giant potato, many curious people came to see it. Some expressed interest in buying the potato, but the owner refused to sell it.
