THE 4TH DISTRICT-LEVEL UNIT OF NGHE AN TO MEET STANDARDS

NEW RURAL AREA

Yen Thanh is a semi-mountainous plain district, located in the Northeast of Nghe An province. Natural area 54,766 ha; population over 300,000 people; administrative unit has 38 communes, 1 town, of which 18 are mountainous communes.

Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development, Yen Thanh district encountered many common and local difficulties. In 2011, the district averaged only 6.81 criteria/commune; average income per capita was 13.9 million VND/year; the poverty rate remained high at 9.42%.

With the attention and support of the Central Government, the province, departments and branches at all levels, the business community, the great efforts and determination of the entire political system, the support and active response of all classes of people, after 10 years of implementation, Yen Thanh has had 38/38 communes meeting new rural standards, of which Son Thanh is the first commune to meet new rural standards in Nghe An province. The district level has met 9/9 criteria.

On April 16, 2020, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 524/QD-TTg recognizing Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province as meeting new rural standards in 2019.This is one of the first four district-level units in the province to meet new rural standards.

Recognizing the results of new rural construction in Yen Thanh district, on July 27, 2020, the President issued Decision No. 2293/QD-CTN to award the Third-class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Yen Thanh district for their outstanding achievements in the movement of the whole country joining hands to build new rural areas in the period of 2016 - 2020, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

Presenting the report on the results of new rural construction, comrade Phan Van Tuyen - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Thanh district affirmed: Over the past 10 years, Yen Thanh has made very important progress, from thoroughly grasping policies, changing awareness to transforming into concrete actions of the entire political system and the entire population. The appearance of rural areas, towns and townships has been renewed and spacious; the material and spiritual life of the people has constantly developed. Yen Thanh has gradually built the core values ​​of a livable countryside.

In the coming time, on the basis of continuing to thoroughly grasp the viewpoints and policies of the Party and State on new rural construction, in conjunction with the Resolution of the 27th District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025; at the same time inheriting and promoting the achieved results, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, Yen Thanh continues to focus on building advanced, exemplary new rural areas in a sustainable manner.

REINFORCEMENTSTRIVE TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND CRITERIA OF NEW RURAL AREA

Speaking at the Ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee warmly congratulated and commended the achievements and results that the Party Committee, government and people of Yen Thanh district have strived and achieved in the past time.

In the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Party Committee, government and people of Yen Thanh district to continue to identify new rural construction as a central, comprehensive and long-term task. The consolidation and improvement of quality and criteria for new rural development must be associated with socio-economic development, ensuring the environment and people's needs, taking people as the main subject.

On that basis, the head of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee suggested that Yen Thanh continue to focus on promoting the creative power of all classes of people, creating high consensus of the whole society; Continue to promote propaganda and mobilization work so that people can proactively, enthusiastically and actively participate in building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas associated with the Campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas" and the Emulation Movement "Joining hands to build new rural areas".
