Yen Thanh district has planted over 1105 hectares of forest under the WB3 project.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 11th, Yen Thanh district held a conference to summarize the WB3 forestry development project. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Head of the Nghe An Forestry Department, attended the conference.
This is a forestry development project supported by the World Bank, through the Social Policy Bank system. Since 2012, nearly 900 households in 7 communes of Yen Thanh district (Quang Thanh, Kim Thanh, Dong Thanh, Minh Thanh, Tien Thanh, Dai Thanh, and Hau Thanh) have benefited from the project, involving 17 farmer groups engaged in forest planting.

When participating in the project, each household has access to a comprehensive credit service, borrowing 15-25 million VND/hectare from the World Bank through the Social Policy Bank system, at a preferential interest rate of 0.65%/month to invest in forest planting; they are granted land use right certificates, along with technical support through training, workshops, and study tours of successful models. The project also strengthens the capacity of local officials and households in developing high-quality economic forest planting techniques; grassroots agricultural and forestry extension officers receive support with technical equipment and resources, contributing to improved knowledge of forestry production, economic development, and efficient and sustainable use of forest land resources.

Thanks to strict adherence to regulations and close monitoring of loan funds, by the end of the project, Yen Thanh district had issued 383 land use right certificates covering 453.91 hectares; planted 1105.83 hectares of forest with a disbursed amount of 9.022 billion VND, reaching 41%.

The conference focused on thoroughly evaluating the strengths and weaknesses, particularly the reasons for the slow disbursement compared to requirements, and drew lessons learned to implement more effectively when new projects are launched.
On this occasion, Yen Thanh district had 4 collectives and 10 individuals awarded certificates of commendation by the Chairman of the District People's Committee for their achievements in implementing the WB3 forestry development project in the district.
