Yen Thanh: Handling 5 cases of forestry law violations, confiscating nearly 3m3 of wood

(Baonghean.vn) - In 2015, the District Forest Protection Department discovered and handled 5 cases of forestry law violations, confiscating 1,443 m³lumber and 1,342m³Round wood of all kinds, paid to the State Treasury more than 16 million VND.

On the morning of March 21, Yen Thanh district organized a review of forest protection, development and fire prevention and control work in 2015 and deployed tasks for 2016.

In 2015, prolonged heat caused two forest fires, but thanks to adherence to the "4 on-site" principle, the fires were controlled and extinguished promptly, significantly reducing damage to forest resources.

In 2015, along with the reorganization of Steering Committees at all levels, the early development and implementation of forest protection and development plans, and forest fire prevention and control, 296 hamlets and more than 6,400 households in Yen Thanh signed a commitment to forest fire prevention and control. The district forest ranger unit also equipped 4 blowers, built and repaired 12 propaganda wall panels, and hundreds of tools such as knives, straws, hats, plastic cans, fire extinguishers, iron rakes, etc., distributed to localities to serve forest fire prevention and control.

Many devices and tools are equipped to serve PCCCR work.

During the year, the district planted more than 1,400 hectares of forest, including more than 100 hectares of protective forest, implemented 2 models of protecting natural chestnut forests, and protected more than 3,000 hectares in managed forest areas...

However, due to prolonged heat, there were 2 fires in the district during the year, damaging nearly 4 hectares of pine forest. Through inspection and control, the District Forest Protection Department discovered and handled 5 cases of forestry law violations, confiscating 1,443m³lumber and 1,342m³Round wood of all kinds, fine paid to the State Treasury more than 16 million VND.

In 2016, Yen Thanh district continued to be proactive and synchronous in strengthening solutions, especially raising awareness among all people, sustainably protecting existing forest areas, doing a good job of forest development, preventing deforestation, and minimizing the risk of forest fires occurring in the area.

At the closing ceremony, 8 groups and individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of Yen Thanh District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the work of protection, development and fire prevention and control in 2015.
