In the final match, Bich Ha's family was divided into two sides: her parents and brother-in-law cheered for the home team Malaysia, while she and her husband supported Vietnam.

As soon as the Vietnamese team entered the finals with Malaysia, the atmosphere in the family of Ms. Bich Ha, 28 years old, currently working as a media officer in Kuala Lumpur, became much more bustling. She said that wherever her mother-in-law went, she bragged to everyone, "Malaysia is my daughter-in-law's country."

Mr. Sze Kiet, 27 years old, said he wanted his wife's hometown team to win because the team played well and impressively.

Bich Ha's husband followed his wife to support Vietnam in the final match.

"I married a Vietnamese woman and love Vietnam, so I will cheer for Vietnam in the final match. I told my wife to rest assured because we have allies," Sze Kiet shared.

Ms. Ha added that yesterday she carefully texted him to "tease" him again. She teased him that if he wanted to sleep in the bed, he had to cheer for the Vietnamese team. Mr. Sze Kiet affirmed "for sure" and even wrote clearly "Vietnam is the champion".

The text message Ms. Ha sent to her husband.

During the recent AFF Cup, my husband and I watched every match. At the SEA Games last year, when Vietnam played as guests in Malaysia, both my husband and I went to the stadium to cheer.

"In the stands, fans of the two countries usually have separate seating areas. But most Malaysian husbands who marry Vietnamese women go to the area with their wives, including my husband. He supports them like a true Vietnamese fan," said Ms. Ha.

Ms. Diem Huong, 29 years old, currently living with her Malaysian husband in Selangor, said that her husband, Mr. Benny Chee, also follows his wife to support the Vietnamese team.

Ms. Huong's husband also followed his wife to cheer for Vietnam.

"My husband is a Chelsea fan, but not a fan of any other team. He named his son Chelsea. In this final match, he said he would cheer for Vietnam because he saw his wife's hometown team play better and more methodically," said Ms. Huong.

Ms. Duong Anh Lan's husband, Mr. Ming Way, a Chinese Malaysian who currently lives in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, said he is not much of a football fan, but will support his wife's hometown team.

"Over here, the most passionate football fans are usually Malaysian Muslims, while Malaysians of Chinese or Indian origin are less interested. My husband didn't even know there was football. He found out when I told him and said he would cheer for Vietnam with me," Lan shared.

Ivan Chee, a Malaysian married to a Vietnamese woman, currently an employee of a foreign bank in Hanoi, said he will support both teams in this final match.

"The Vietnamese team has played very well and effectively, and has not lost a single match since the beginning of the tournament. I especially like player Quang Hai. I will cheer for both teams, and I will be happy if either team wins. But I still have a slight bias towards Malaysia," said Ivan Chee, who has lived in Vietnam for 10 years.
