YouTube has removed 6,700 reactionary video clips at Vietnam's request.
That is the information provided by the Ministry of Information and Communications at the conference to review the work of the first 6 months and deploy the work of the last 6 months of 2018.
According to Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan, the Ministry's functional agencies have actively coordinated with local authorities in implementing technical solutions to prevent bad elements from taking advantage of telecommunications networks and the Internet to call for large gatherings, causing insecurity and disorder in some localities.
In recent times, the Ministry has also stepped up exchanges and working activities with representatives of Facebook and Google, requesting the prevention and removal of information that violates Vietnamese law on social networks.
By the end of June 2018, Google had removed 6,700/7,800 video clips from YouTube, including nearly 300 video clips with reactionary content, inciting people to oppose the Party and the State.
According to Minister Truong Minh Tuan, 6 YouTube channels have been completely blocked. The social networking site Facebook has also removed nearly 1,000/5,500 links with content that violates Vietnamese law, 107/107 fake accounts, 137 accounts that defame, slander, and propagate against the Party and the State.
The Ministry of Information and Communications is developing a Code of Conduct for service providers and users of Vietnamese social networks.
