Two French coaches are strong candidates in the list of 11 people running for the world football federation's outstanding individual award.

Zinedine Zidane helped Real Madrid win the Champions League for the third year in a row, while Didier Deschamps led France to the World Cup. These successes have made them favourites to win The Best award for best men's football coach in 2018.

Zidane won the award last year and it would not be surprising if he won it again. In addition to the Champions League, Zidane won the European Super Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with Real. However, Deschamps will be a strong contender. The 49-year-old is only the third person to win the World Cup as a coach and a player.

Of the remaining 9 candidates, 5 are currently leading clubs: Max Allegri (Juventus), Pep Guardiola (Man City), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Diego Simeone (Atletico) and Ernesto Valverde (Barca).

Four others have had success at the World Cup. Zlatko Dalic, who led Croatia to their first final, along with Belgium's Roberto Martinez and England's Gareth Southgate.Coach Stanislav Cherchesov is also nominated after taking Russia to the quarter-finals of the tournament on home soil.

Fans, journalists, coaches and captains of national teams will vote for the winner of this race from 24 July to 10 August. FIFA will then announce the final three names before revealing the winner at the Gala on 24 September.
