Tomorrow (July 1), the 2011 General Census of Rural, Agricultural and Fishery will be conducted nationwide according to Decision No. 1785/QD-TTg dated September 27, 2010 of the Prime Minister.


The main objective of the Census is to collect information to assess the current situation, trends and results of the implementation of policies and programs of the Party and State in the agricultural and rural areas of Vietnam, as a basis for policy making, planning and programs for comprehensive industrialization and modernization of agricultural production, building new rural areas and improving the lives of rural residents in the coming period.

The 2011 rural, agricultural and fishery census was conducted over 30 days, from July 1 to July 30, 2011 nationwide, with three survey contents:

Firstly, regarding the current status of agricultural, forestry and fishery production, we will investigate the number of production units; number of workers and labor structure; scale, production capacity, etc.

Second, regarding the rural situation, focus on investigating the current situation and the shift in the rural economic structure as well as the current situation and changes in the rural socio-economic infrastructure.

Third, for information on rural residents, investigate the living conditions of rural residents; accumulation and ability to mobilize capital, borrowing situation, ability to access credit of rural residents; vocational training for rural workers.

To successfully organize the General Census, the Steering Committees for the General Census at all levels need to closely and synchronously direct all aspects and stages of work in accordance with the proposed plans, processes and schedules. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen the supervision and inspection of information collection in the locality, manage the spending and use of the General Census funds in accordance with regulations, economically and effectively, contributing to the implementation of Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP of the Government to control inflation, stabilize the macro-economy, ensure social security, and strive to complete the socio-economic goals of 2011.
