10 tons of fake collagen and functional foods were discovered
Royal jelly, sheep placenta, collagen and a series of products originating from China have been "magically" transformed into imported goods from the US and Europe.
At noon on January 24, Nguyen Tuan Linh (30 years old) was caught red-handed by authorities driving a car transporting 170 boxes of functional foods for sale on Tran Khat Chan street, Hanoi.
Linh said he was hired to transport for Hoang Thi Hong Lien (32 years old, residing in Hung Nguyen town, Nghe An). Based on Linh and Lien's statements, the authorities searched their 3 warehouses at Lim wholesale market (Tien Du district, Bac Ninh) and seized more than 10 tons of fake functional foods such as royal jelly, sheep placenta, collagen... of famous brands.
At the scene, police found numerous discolored and stuck-together capsules in large plastic bags. Many of the finished product boxes were printed with British, French, American, German brand names, and had an expiration date of 2017.

For over a year, Lien khai has imported goods from China, then packaged them, labeled them with fake labels and sold them for several hundred to a million dong per product. The fake goods are sold in many markets and some famous drug stores in Hanoi. The delivery is not done at the store but usually arranged in the middle of the road.
Authorities will assess the amount of toxins in these products.
Lien and Linh are being detained. The Environmental Police Department (PC49) and the Economic Police Department (PC46) are continuing to investigate this large-scale counterfeit production case.
