The apricot garden consists of 103 trees (symbolizing the General's 103 years of age) initiated by Vietcombank and Quang Trach District Youth Union members during the 2014 New Year Tree Planting Festival and completed on February 27.
These are the emperor yellow apricot trees and were carefully selected in some provinces in the north central region to suit the weather and climate in Vung Chua - Yen Island. Planted and cared for carefully, these apricot trees are green and blooming bright yellow flowers.
Under the canopy of yellow apricot trees, the grass carpet brought from Le Thuy - the General's hometown - by the family and border guards is also green and lush, creating a unique feature for the General's tomb area.
The stone slab engraved with the words "Mai Garden" was brought by two units from Non Nuoc area (Da Nang) and placed in front of the garden.
This is an activity to show gratitude and remember the General's great contributions to his homeland and country.
