11,277 billion VND to build the National History Museum

The Ministry of Construction has just submitted a document to the Ministry of Planning and Investment requesting appraisal of the investment project to build the National History Museum.

The project to build the National History Museum has a total investment of 11,277 billion VND, not including the cost of the investment component project to build the content and display form implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

National Museum Model

The Ministry of Construction said that the project's goal is to build a modern museum with advanced science and technology, large scale investment, and large area to overcome the limitations in content, area, nature and scale of current exhibition content, well meeting the needs of conservation, preservation, collection, display of artifacts; operation, management, exploitation, use and training; serving the needs of sightseeing, scientific research, study, teaching, and dissemination of knowledge about the country's history, culture, and science.

The project has four main items including: Main building; memorial area; outdoor exhibition area; auxiliary technical items, trees, and landscape.

In particular, the main building is built on a land area of ​​over 20,000m2, with a construction floor area of ​​nearly 90,000m2 and a maximum height of 32.5m. This building has a basement and 6 floors above ground, including a warehouse for storing inorganic and organic artifacts from different periods and eras; space for displaying, recreating history, topics, collections...; preservation and restoration center; creative discovery area; halls, meeting rooms, seminars, film screenings serving research, study, learning and community knowledge exchange...

The memorial area for famous people has a construction area of ​​about 1,520 square meters, including a memorial house with statues, a list of names of honored famous people and their artifacts (if any).

The outdoor exhibition area will display large artifacts; recreate historical spaces; unique cultural and architectural spaces; and spaces for cultural activities and performances.

The museum's construction site is determined in the new urban area of ​​Tay Ho Tay, Tu Liem district, Hanoi in the detailed planning for the construction of Friendship Park and the National History Museum.
The land use area of ​​the museum is 10 hectares, of which the construction area is about 30,000 square meters, the outdoor exhibition area is about 30,000 square meters, the area for community cultural activities is about 10,000 square meters, the area of ​​trees, gardens, and internal traffic roads is about 30,000 square meters.

The Government assigned the Ministry of Construction as the investor for the investment project to build the National History Museum. The manager and investor of the component projects (content and display form) is the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The proposed project implementation period is from November 2012 to May 2016. Acceptance and handover to the project owner will be held from July 2016./.
