11 years in prison for murder and intentional injury

(Baonghean.vn) -On May 30, in Vinh City, the Supreme People's Court of Appeal heard a case of murder and intentional injury that occurred in Dien Hai Commune (Dien Chau, Nghe An) in late 2010.

According to the first instance verdict of the People's Court of Nghe An province, after attending a friend's wedding on the evening of October 26, 2010, Nguyen Van Hai (born in 1990), Nguyen Van Trung (born in 1990), Truong Van Oanh (born in 1992), all residing in Hamlet 8, Tho Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh District), and Nguyen Van Phong (born in 1993, residing in Dong Ngo Hamlet, Hong Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh) invited each other to Dien Hai Commune, Dien Chau to play. Due to a conflict with Nguyen Van Dung and Le Van Tuan, who are residents of Hamlet 8, Dien Hai Commune, all four people rushed in to beat Dung and Tuan. During the fight, Nguyen Van Hai pulled out a hidden switchblade and stabbed Dung and Tuan multiple times. As a result, Dung died on the spot, while Le Van Tuan was seriously injured, with a disability rate of 24.2%.

The court of first instance sentenced: Nguyen Van Hai to 9 years in prison for murder, 2 years in prison for intentional injury, a total sentence of 11 years in prison, compensation for the victim's family of 81 million VND; Nguyen Van Trung, Truong Van Oanh to 18 months in prison for intentional injury and Nguyen Van Phong to 15 months in prison with a suspended sentence of 29 months.
