12 irrigation works under construction to overcome floods and prevent floods in 2013

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has just decided to approve the list of 12 flood-crossing and flood-prevention construction projects in 2013.

Accordingly, there are 5 key construction projects to ensure flood control requirements including: Ban Mong Reservoir (Son La), Ta Trach Reservoir (Thua Thien Hue), Van Phong Dam (Binh Dinh), Ta Pao irrigation system (Binh Thuan), Nuoc Trong Reservoir (Quang Ngai).

Seven construction projects ensure flood safety including: Ban Mong Reservoir (Nghe An); Nam Dan sluice (Nghe An); Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang irrigation system (Ha Tinh); Ta Ruc reservoir (Khanh Hoa); Ea Rot water reservoir cluster, Krong Pack Thuong water reservoir (Dak Lak); flood control project downstream of Saigon River (Ho Chi Minh City) and Ngoai Do 2 pumping station (Hanoi).

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requires investors to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the local Flood and Storm Prevention Command, and consulting and construction contractors to organize the development and approval of flood and storm prevention plans, ensuring absolute safety for projects during the 2013 storm and flood season.
