Mr. Minh was unconscious in an accident and had to undergo emergency surgery and be cared for by doctors at Thong Nhat Hospital (HCMC) for 12 days before his wife was found.

More than a month has passed, the 52-year-old wife still cannot believe that she can find her husband again in such a situation. Mr. Minh, 56 years old, suffered a traumatic brain injury and lost the ability to work since 2000.In the past three years, his illness has gotten worse, his mind is sometimes clear, sometimes unconscious, he often wanders the sidewalks. On the morning of March 25, he left home early, and by evening he still had not returned, so his wife and children started looking for him.

The wife and her son shared the postage of notices to find relatives on all the streets. After reporting to the police, the wife went to hospitals in the area such as Nhan Dan 115, Van Hanh, Saigon General Hospital... to inquire. A week passed, a neighbor said that the TV had just reported that a body had been found floating in the river in District 2, she hurried to the scene and the police informed her that the body had been claimed. She knocked on the door of the social support center, a place for treating the mentally ill... but there was still no news of her husband.

"By the 12th day, I had lost hope, thinking of the worst case scenario, so I decided to go to An Binh funeral home in District 5 to check, but was suddenly informed by Thong Nhat Hospital that a man over 50 years old was being treated there," the wife said. When she entered the hospital and saw her husband conscious and being taken good care of by doctors and nurses, the wife could not hide her emotions.

Thong Nhat Hospital said at 0:10 on March 27, it received a traffic accident patient brought in by a passerby in a state of shock, blood loss due to multiple injuries, and a ruptured spleen. The patient had no money, no identification, no relatives, so it was impossible to get information.Faced with the urgent situation, the doctors decided to perform emergency surgery, removing the patient's spleen to stop the bleeding. It was already 3am.

After two days of intensive treatment, the patient was transferred to the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Department. Doctors and nurses took turns caring for the patient, feeding him spoonfuls of porridge at each meal. Only when the patient regained consciousness did the hospital get information about his relatives and send someone to contact his family.

Due to the difficult family circumstances, the patient is a discharged soldier, so the hospital waived the 38 million VND hospital fee. "I am very grateful to the doctors who decided to operate on my husband immediately even though we had no money and no one around," the wife shared.
