Mr. Duong Duc Lan, Director General of the General Department of Vocational Training, Head of the Vietnamese delegation attending the 42nd WorldSkills Competition, said: This is the fourth time Vietnam has participated in the WorldSkills Competition, although it has achieved many achievements in the ASEAN Skills Competitions.

The purpose of the Vietnamese delegation participating in this competition is to exchange, learn from experiences, strengthen solidarity and friendship, and enhance mutual understanding among participating countries. The entire delegation will strive to achieve the best results, higher than the results at the 41st Competition in London (UK).

According to Mr. Duong Duc Lan, the preparation work for the World Skills Competition of the Vietnamese delegation has been focused with the highest effort. Right from the end of the 9th ASEAN Skills Competition, Vietnam has selected 13 contestants to win high prizes in 12 occupations. The contestants are trained at 8 strong vocational training facilities across the country. For each occupation where training is organized, the Organizing Committee has selected a group of experts from 2-5 people, including many skilled experts with prestigious experience who are participating in production and business services in the training occupations.

Vietnam first participated in the 39th WorldSkills Competition in 2007 in Japan. At the 41st Competition in 2011 held in the UK, Vietnam participated in 12 occupations with 13 contestants. As a result, the Vietnamese delegation won 7 certificates of excellent vocational skills; ranked 23rd out of 48 countries and territories with contestants./.
