130 students attend the Teaching Class for the Vi and Giam folk song club in Nghe An

On the morning of September 11, Nghe An Province Traditional Arts Center held the opening ceremony of the 2024 teaching class for Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk song clubs in the province.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports, the Provincial Traditional Arts Center and 130 students from Vi and Giam folk singing clubs in the province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the teaching class, musician Tran Quoc Chung - Director of the Provincial Traditional Arts Center stated:Folk songsbearing a strong national identity, is a cultural marker of Nghe Tinh region. Since 2014, after Vi and Giam were recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the authorities and people of Nghe An province have made efforts to implement a national action program to preserve the vitality of Vi and Giam folk songs.

At the same time, there are policies to honor artisans in passing on and educating the younger generation so that the heritage will last forever, worthy of being an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

With the agreement and direction of the Department of Culture and Sports, the Provincial Traditional Arts Center organized the Opening Ceremony of the Folk Song Teaching Class for Vi and Giam folk song clubs with the aim of guiding and teaching artisans, members of clubs and art troupes to grasp some basic melodies.

Thereby, preserving, promoting and popularizing the values ​​of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs in the system of clubs, art troupes and all classes of people in the community. This is also an opportunity for students to meet, exchange and share their understanding of the Vi and Giam folk song heritage and how to preserve and promote the heritage in the community.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports hoped that the students would actively study and acquire knowledge and skills to carry out the task of spreading Vi and Giam folk songs in community life and become the core of folk song clubs as well as local art movements.

The training course for the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk song club took place from September 11 to 13, 2024. During the 3 days, the students received 5 topics: Preserving and promoting the heritage of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs into a unique cultural tourism product contributing to promoting the local socio-economy; Overview of Nghe Tinh folk songs, introducing the characteristics and properties of the genres: Vi, Giam, Ho Nghe Tinh; Teaching and practicing basic Vi, Giam, Ho melodies and some modified melodies in Nghe Tinh folk songs; Identifying the development and transformation of Vi and Giam folk songs in contemporary life; Editing, building scripts and staging Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk song programs.
