14 years in prison for drug trafficking, transporting contraband, and gambling.
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of January 25, in Quynh Vinh commune, the People's Court of Quynh Luu district opened a mobile trial to try defendants for crimes of illegal drug trafficking; transporting prohibited goods; and gambling. The total sentence for the defendants is 14 years in prison.
The defendants include: Nguyen Dinh Thinh, born in 1989, hamlet 12, Quynh Tan commune (for the crime of illegal drug trafficking); Le Sy Loi, born in 1967, hamlet 13, Quynh Vinh commune (for the crime of transporting prohibited goods); Ho Huu Tuan, Nguyen Thi Dung, Ho Thi Ha, Ho Than Dong and Bui Thi Loan, residing in Quynh Luu district (for the crime of gambling).
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Quynh Luu district, from September to October 2012, Nguyen Dinh Thinh repeatedly sold heroin to drug addicts in Quynh Luu district. After many successful sales, Thinh continued to illegally transport and trade drugs to sell to drug addicts.
Defendant Nguyen Dinh Thinh was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
During the investigation and monitoring process, at around 12:30 on October 14, 2012, the working group of Quynh Luu District Police caught Thinh red-handed holding a small package, the outer layer was a white student paper, inside contained a white powder (suspected to be drugs). The Investigation Police Department of Quynh Luu District Police opened the seal, determined the weight, took samples for examination and resealed it.
The forensic conclusion showed that the white powder package seized when Thinh was caught red-handed was narcotics. At the trial, the panel sentenced defendant Nguyen Dinh Thinh to 7 years and 6 months in prison. The term was calculated from the date of temporary detention, October 14, 2012.
Defendant Le Sy Loi was sentenced to 15 months in prison for transporting prohibited goods.
Gambling objects.
Also at the trial, the panel sentenced defendant Le Sy Loi to 15 months in prison for transporting prohibited goods (including 18kg of various types of firecrackers). Defendants Ho Huu Tuan to 24 months in prison; Ho Thi Ha to 12 months in prison; Bui Thi Loan to 15 months in prison. Ho Than Dong and Nguyen Thi Dung were sentenced to 12 months of suspended sentences for gambling.
