14 years in prison for murder

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of September 19, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened the first instance criminal trial to try the murder case of Nguyen Huu Dong (born 1988), Nguyen Huu Trung (born 1983) and Nguyen Huu Ha (born 1991), all residing in Khe Dong village - Thach Ngan commune, Con Cuong district.

According to the indictment of the provincial People's Procuracy, at about 7:00 p.m. on March 19, 2011, on the way home from collecting firewood, Nguyen Huu Dong and Nguyen Trung Thanh (born in 1987) met Vi Van Tinh (born in 1972) and Vo Trong Doai (born in 1993). Due to a verbal conflict, Dong was upset so he went to Tinh's house in Ke Gia village to settle the matter. As soon as he entered the yard, Dong was slashed once on the left shoulder by Tinh with a knife. After slashing Dong, Tinh jumped over the fence to his younger brother's house. Being slashed, Dong took out the knife he was carrying and chased Tinh, hearing Dong scream,NNguyen Huu Trung and Nguyen Huu Ha also chased after Vi Van Tinh. Finding Tinh in his younger brother's house, Dong slashed him in the head, causing him to collapse on the spot. Seeing this, Nguyen Huu Trung grabbed a chair and Nguyen Huu Ha grabbed a rock and threw it at the victim's face. Although he was taken to the emergency room, Tinh died shortly after due to a fractured skull and crushed brain tissue.

The People's Court sentenced Nguyen Huu Dong to 8 years in prison, Nguyen Huu Trung to 3 years and 6 months in prison, and Nguyen Huu Ha to 3 years in prison.
