Nghia and Ms. Th. got married in 2018. During their time together, Nghia thought his wife's parents criticized him for being slow at work, so he was upset.

According to the indictment, at noon on May 7, 2021, after dinner with his parents, Nghia and his wife went to bed. At about 2:30 p.m. the same day, Nghia woke up, thinking about the previous conflict with his wife's parents, so he had the intention of killing his wife.

Thinking and doing, this husband took a knife and slashed his sleeping wife's neck twice, causing her death.

After committing the crime, Nghia went outside and was discovered by his relatives because his clothes were covered in blood. The incident was exposed, Nghia asked his relatives to take him to the police station to confess to killing his wife.

The forensic agency concluded that the victim's cause of death was acute circulatory failure due to injuries to the vascular bundles, carotid nerves on both sides, laryngeal cartilage, and larynx-trachea.

According to the conclusion of the forensic psychiatric examination, before, during and after committing the crime, Ngo Van Nghia suffered from grand mal epilepsy with mild personality changes.

At the trial, the defendant admitted to killing his wife. When asked about the motive for the crime, Nghia said it was because of a conflict with his wife's parents. However, the victim's parents asserted in court that the family only taught the couple how to do business...

The panel of judges determined that the defendant's murder was particularly dangerous to society. In this case, the defendant had many mitigating circumstances, such as his honest confession, his epilepsy, and the victim's family's request for a reduced sentence.

Considering the case as a whole, the People's Court sentenced Ngo Van Nghia to 15 years in prison for murder.
