Driver prosecuted for crashing car into market in Lao Bao, causing many casualties
On the evening of September 17, the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Tri Province Police announced that it had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain the driver in the serious traffic accident that killed 3 people and injured many others at the intersection between Km 74+800m of National Highway 9 and DT 586 Road, in Tan Long village, Lao Bao commune.
Specifically, the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Tri Province Police has prosecuted the case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Tran Minh Hoang (born in 1973), residing in Tan Vinh Loc commune, Ho Chi Minh City, to investigate the crime of "Violation of regulations on road traffic participation", as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 260 of the Penal Code. The People's Procuracy of Quang Tri province approved the decision.
According to the initial investigation results, the defendant Tran Minh Hoang drove the car with license plate 37C-587.63 in the wrong lane, causing a traffic accident that killed 3 people: Ho Van Thua (born 2000), residing in Ba Lo village, Muong Noong district, Savannakhet province, Laos; Ho Thi Be (born 2006), residing in village 5, Sepon district, Savannakhet province, Laos; Ho Van Don (born 2001), residing in Ra Po village, A Doi commune, Quang Tri province.
Previously, as reported by VNA, at around 7:47 a.m. on September 17, at Tan Long market, Long Hop village, Lao Bao commune, Quang Tri province, a car with license plate 37C - 58763 driven by Mr. Tran Minh Hoang (born in 1973), residing in Ho Chi Minh City, carrying Mr. Vo Nhat T. (born in 1977), residing in Dong Nai, was traveling on National Highway 9 in the direction of Khe Sanh - Lao Bao. When reaching Tan Long intersection, Lao Bao commune, the car suddenly rushed straight into the market area.
At the time of the incident, the provincial road and the market were crowded with people and many vehicles carrying bananas. According to the cameras of the households, the car was speeding, dragging many people and motorbikes... The accident caused 3 deaths on the spot. 3 seriously injured victims were taken to the Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment and many slightly injured victims were taken to the Huong Hoa Regional General Hospital for treatment.
