169 athletes participated in the 2013 National Petanque Championship
On April 16, at the Soc Trang Sports Training and Competition Center, the opening ceremony of the 2013 National Petanque Championship took place.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the athletes entered the competition in men's and women's singles.

Participating in the 2013 National Petanque Championship were 169 athletes from 14 units with a strong petanque movement including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Yen Bai, Nghe An, Dong Nai, Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Can Tho, Military Zone 9, Bac Lieu and host Soc Trang.
Athletes compete in 9 categories: Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles; mixed trios; mixed and mixed marbles techniques and mixed and mixed.
The 2013 National Petanque Championship takes place to encourage and motivate localities and sectors to develop and build an increasingly complete and professional petanque athlete force; at the same time, the tournament also creates opportunities for athletes in provinces with a strong petanque movement to exchange and learn experiences, as well as select potential athletes for the national team to compete in regional and international arenas.
