2 students drowned tragically

(Baonghean.vn) - During the hot days in Nghe An, there were 2 drowning incidents that tragically killed 2 students.

On the afternoon of June 8, information from Mr. Nguyen Van Trung - Chief of Police of Phuc Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District (Nghe An) said that a drowning incident had just occurred in the commune, causing a 5th grade student to tragically drown.

At around 10am on June 8, a group of students went to Bau Ganh Dam (in Hau Thanh Commune) to cool off. Because he did not know how to swim, Pham Gia Huy (born in 2003), a 5th grader at Phuc Thanh Secondary School, drowned. Nguyen Van H, a resident of Hamlet 6, Phuc Thanh Commune, said that Huy's parents were very poor, his mother worked for hire in the South, and his father worked as a construction worker to raise 3 children.

Upon receiving the news, local authorities sent people to visit and encourage the family to overcome this pain.

Previously, at around 4:00 p.m. on June 7, three students went to the foot of the Bara dam on the Lam River flowing through Trang Son Commune and Do Luong Town (Do Luong District) to play and bathe. While bathing, Oanh and another student slipped. The other student promptly rescued them and brought one person to shore safely. As for Oanh, due to the strong current, she was swept away and went missing. Upon receiving the news, local authorities went to the scene to coordinate with relatives to search along the Lam River bank but have yet to find any trace of Oanh.

It is known that Oanh is a student in class 12D3, Do Luong I High School, who had just finished the 2014 high school graduation exam and was studying for the upcoming university entrance exam when the above incident happened.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Thai Dinh Loi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bai Son commune, Do Luong district said: Currently, the search and rescue team is coordinating with the family to search for the body of student Oanh, who drowned in Lam river.
