Earlier, at around 10am on October 11, a fishing boat with 5 people, about 40 nautical miles off the coast of Phan Thiet, prepared puffer fish for lunch. About half an hour later, all 5 people felt dizzy and vomited. The boat owner docked the boat and took the patients to An Phuoc General Hospital for emergency treatment. However, upon arrival, 2 people with severe poisoning, Pham Van Hoang (21 years old) and Tran Van Manh (20 years old), had died.

In recent years, there have been cases of poisoning due to eating puffer fish, resulting in death. However, despite the warnings from authorities that puffer fish should not be eaten because it can be life-threatening, many people are still subjective and continue to use it in their daily meals.

According to health experts, people need to eliminate foods that pose a risk of poisoning to ensure their health and safety, especially those living along rivers, the coast, or fishing villages should not catch puffer fish to eat./.
