Vinh city, Nghe An province, is hot as hell these days. Students who have just finished their high school graduation exams are speeding up their preparations for their university entrance exams.

From valedictorian to "valedictorian"

The person we want to talk about with a great will and effort to achieve excellent results is Nguyen Thi Minh Tam - from Valedictorian when entering grade 10 to Valedictorian when graduating from school.

The student who contacted us was a Literature major with a bright and intelligent face. The 12-year journey of her school years was the same number of years of continuously achieving the title of Excellent Student. The studiousness and passion for literature since primary school has accompanied her step by step throughout her studies. Remembering the 9th grade year of Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, she was the Valedictorian of the Literature category in Vinh city, the third prize in the Provincial Excellent Student category. That excellent achievement was the launching pad to help her realize her dream of studying at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted - "a place to nurture talents" of her studious and excellent hometown, the "red address" of many students in Nghe An who dream of. Her aspiration helped her take the exam and pass the Literature major class as Valedictorian.

For Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, allocating study time reasonably is the secret to studying well.

The passion for Literature has given me more opportunities to affirm my talent when I study and practice at a school rich in tradition and identity of Nghe An. In grade 12, I won the third prize in the National Excellent Student in Literature and was directly admitted to the Literature Department, Hanoi National University of Education, school year 2012 - 2013. Being directly admitted to university does not make me subjective and satisfied with reality. At the end of the recent 2011-2012 high school graduation exam, I and my schoolmate Bui Thi Minh Ngoc in the English specialized class were the co-valedictorians of Nghe An province with 57 points: Literature (9.5), History (9.0), Geography (8.5) and 3 subjects with 10 points: Math, Chemistry and English.

Sharing with us, the new Valedictorian confided the secret to studying well: “As a student, everyone wants to study well and pass exams with high scores. In my opinion, the most important thing to study well is the study method.”

When visiting her study corner at home, in front of us was a rather large bookshelf with many types of textbooks and reference materials for the 3 subjects of the D block university entrance exam, arranged very scientifically and neatly. The most impressive thing was the entire series of books "Seeds of the Soul" interspersed with the literary work "Noble Hearts" by Edmondo De Amicis - the bedside work that she loved and often read.

The first teacher who introduced me to reading and ignited my passion for literature was my mother, a secondary school literature teacher in the city. From the fourth grade onwards, I had many essays that achieved 10 points. The most emotional essay I wrote about my mother in my childhood, which was passed around by many teachers and friends to read, was “Mother’s Hand”.

I won first prize in the poetry contest about “Lovely School”. The Vietnamese literary works that have had a profound influence on my writing style are the short stories of Thach Lam. But the teacher who helped me keep that passion alive was Ms. Le Luong Tam, my homeroom teacher who directly taught and trained me in Literature for 3 years at Phan School.

To her students, she is very strict but generous and devoted. To Tam, she is a mother at school. Her influence on me is great, but the most profound is how to do homework, how to accumulate knowledge and how to make a notebook effectively. All of my and my friends' writings are carefully marked and corrected by her.

Besides studying, Tam also participates in many extracurricular activities and is one of the favorite MCs at Phan Boi Chau school.

Right after Tam received the Valedictorian graduation result from the Principal's call, she called her parents and homeroom teacher with overflowing emotions as a way to express gratitude to those who helped her achieve that success.

Tam shared that before the exam, she only hoped and strived to graduate with honors, did not think she would be the valedictorian and very modestly shared that it was a stroke of luck, but when confiding in us, teacher Pham Thi Dao - her mother was very happy and affirmed that it was a worthy result of her ability and effort.

“Nothing is impossible”

As a student of Literature major, I have achieved impressive results with 3 subjects achieving perfect scores: Math, Chemistry and English. The secret to my high results is to allocate study time reasonably for the subjects of the D block university entrance exam (Math, Literature, English) and the graduation exam subjects (Chemistry, History, Geography). Each subject has a scientific timetable in each class, the study day should not overlap but be effective.

Commenting on this year's graduation essay, I think the exam was not too difficult but still classified good and excellent students. I was impressed with the essay question about lying and its application and association in study and life.

As a well-rounded student in many subjects, Nguyen Thi Minh Tam is also an exemplary, dynamic and talented class monitor. She believes that participating in group activities helps her to always have a comfortable mentality, helps her learn more useful knowledge, especially practice life skills.

As soon as he entered 10th grade, Tam was honored to be a young representative of the province to attend the Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union in Hanoi. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union. During school holidays, Tam is a very confident, intelligent and charming MC. He is a student with excellent achievements in the implementation of the program "School Stage" and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

During the days of racing against time to prepare for the university entrance exam, many of my friends were trying to break through the "gate", but I was admitted directly to university with the Third Prize of National Excellent Student. For me, in every exam, I do not create pressure but only strive and believe that nothing is impossible.

My simple dream and determination is to get into the Foreign Economics Faculty of Hanoi Foreign Trade University with the best results.

Saying goodbye to you, we hope that the new Valedictorian of Nghe An province will continue the tradition of Phan school in Nghe An, continue to affirm the position of students with many Valedictorians to make the "Champion Flowers" bloom at Phan school.
