20,000 visitors attend Book Festival 'Turn off your phone - Open the book'
(Baonghean.vn) - About 20,000 visitors, more than 1,000 books donated to Future Bookcase are the outstanding numbers created at the Book Festival event with the theme "Turn off the phone - Open the book page" taking place over 3 weekends on Hung Vuong walking street, Eco Central Park.

For the first time, 10 leading publishing units and bookstores in Vietnam such as Thai Ha, Kim Dong, Phuong Nam, Fahasa with about 12,000 books have been displayed together on Hung Vuong walking street located in Eco Central Park, for 3 days, March 29-31, 2024. This is also the first time that Eco Central Park residents and Vinh city residents have experienced an extremely large space of knowledge on the most beautiful walking street in Vinh city, from the universe of science - technology, fun math, the world of literature to the treasure trove of colorful comics...

Duong Phan Yen Ngoc, a student at Le Mao Primary School in Vinh City, Nghe An Province, said: “This is the first time I have been to such a large book street. Here, there are many types of children's books that I like. I feel very happy and excited and hope to come here many more times.”
Leading the group of students to visit the book street, teacher Ho Thi Thanh Huyen, teacher at Le Mao Primary School, Vinh city, Nghe An province shared: "The space for displaying books here is very convenient, beautiful, clean, spacious, very convenient for children to choose books or book topics that they love. The children were very enthusiastic and interested and this Book Festival was very meaningful for all students".

In addition, tourists, students and children also participated in the poetry festival with games of poetry matching, word connection... and received attractive gifts from poet Ha Vinh Tam and writer Vo Thu Huong - they are both Nghe An natives who are very successful in the field of literature.

Sharing about the purpose of organizing the event, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Nga, representative of the founder of Ecopark - Investor of Eco Central Park, said: "Our message is to disconnect to connect. Disconnect from electronic devices to connect with books. Currently, parents and children are often busy with electronic devices, children prefer to watch YouTube than read books. Therefore, by organizing a book festival at Hung Vuong walking street, we want to create a space for children to connect with books, books will help children think more, be more creative".
Future Bookcase has more than 1,000 books
One of the meaningful activities that many Eco Central Park residents and visitors are particularly interested in when coming to the Book Festival is donating books to the Future Bookcase - a program launched by the founder of Ecopark to Eco Central Park residents and schools in Vinh city. After donating 2 books, the donor will receive a voucher to experience kayaking and playing water polo for free for a month at the 10-hectare Swan Lake park, surrounded by multi-layered flora and trees blooming all year round.

In just 3 days of launching the program, Future Bookcase has received more than 1,000 books of many different types, mainly textbooks; foreign language books; extension and advanced books; skill books, etc. It is expected that the donated books will be given to schools in Vinh city and schools in mountainous districts with difficulties to spread the reading culture and further promote the studious spirit of Nghe people.

In addition to reading books, visiting 12 booths, donating old books or checking in with lovely mascots, students and children can also participate in intellectual games such as chess, stacking and pulling out blocks or games that show dexterity such as embossing, clock decoration, artistic stone inlay...

Hung Vuong walking street, also known as Hung Vuong Avenue - one of the two "main arteries" of Eco Central Park urban area, was handed over 2 months early and opened at the end of 2023.

Since its opening, the street has become an indispensable destination for entertainment, recreation, and check-in for tens of thousands of Vinh residents, especially on weekends or special events.
