The Vietnamese Sports Delegation will send many young athletes to participate in preparation for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

The goal of the Vietnamese sports delegation is to win 2-3 gold medals, with expectations from faces such as: Hoang Xuan Vinh (shooting), Phan Thi Ha Thanh (gymnastics), Thach Kim Tuan (weightlifting), Nguyen Thi Anh Vien (swimming)... Previously, at the 2010 Asiad, the Vietnamese sports delegation only won 1 gold medal in karate by martial artist Le Bich Phuong.

According to plan, the host country of Asiad will organize 36 competitions, including 28 competitions in the 2016 Olympic competition program.

TTVN has identified 15 key sports to focus on investment: swimming, athletics, shooting, taekwondo, karate, judo, weightlifting, gymnastics, wrestling, archery, fencing, rowing, women's boxing, sepak takraw, and wushu.

Among these sports, Sepak Takraw, Karate, and Taekwondo have the greatest hope of winning gold medals, because in these sports, Vietnam has many world-class athletes. Unfortunately, Chess is not included in the competition program.

At this year's ASIAD, Mr. Lam Quang Thanh, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, will be the Head of the Delegation./.
