21,000 accounts booking train tickets for Tet show signs of speculation

According to the latest information from the Saigon station representative, up to this point, a total of 8,800 serial numbers serving the need to buy tickets directly at the station from October 10 to October 31, 2013 have been issued.

As planned, on October 10, the station will sell tickets for about 400 pre-booked numbers, equivalent to about 1,200 Tet train tickets. At the same time, the station will also sell tickets to passengers by booking on the website www.vetau.com.vn.

“As of the morning of October 9, we have received about 120,000 pre-registered accounts for booking purposes. However, through inspection and review, we suspect that 21,000 accounts show signs of speculation. The company will put these accounts under control to prevent ticket “brokers” – Mr. Dinh Van Sang, Deputy General Director of Saigon Railway Passenger Transport Company said.

It is known that the number of seats for the 2014 Tet train, with travel time before Tet from January 16 to 29, 2014 for the Saigon - Hanoi route is about 148,878 seats. Of which, from October 10, about 40% of the seats (equivalent to about 60,000 seats) will be posted on the website www.vetau.com.vn, for passengers to book seats.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Head of Saigon Station affirmed: To meet the demand for booking tickets via the website, the transmission system has been upgraded and is capable of handling 5,000 visits at the same time. As for the form of selling tickets via text message to get a queue number to buy directly at the station, the total number is estimated at about 30,000 tickets.
