3 subjects are exempted from studying National Defense and Security Education

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued regulations on the organization of teaching, learning and assessment of learning outcomes of the subject of National Defense and Security Education (GDQP-AN). This includes regulations on subjects exempted from, reduced from, or temporarily suspended from studying this subject.

Subjects exempted from studying National Defense and Security Education include students with reserve officer certificates or graduation certificates from military or police academies or schools; foreign students and students studying for a second degree, intermediate vocational, university or college level.

Students, transfer students, students in bridging training or completing higher levels are exempted from studying and taking exams for the courses they have studied.

Subjects exempted from studying and taking the military skills practical exam include students who are monks and nuns of religions; students with congenital disabilities, chronic diseases that limit motor functions, with a certificate from a district-level hospital or equivalent or higher; students who have completed their military service, with a discharge certificate issued by a competent military unit.

Vietnamese students studying abroad or studying at foreign schools, joint venture schools, or schools affiliated with foreign countries in Vietnam; students who are sick, have accidents, natural disasters, or fires; students who are pregnant and on maternity leave according to current regulations may have their studies temporarily postponed.

Students who have completed the required number of tests for each subject; each test scores 5 points or more and have attended 80% of the theoretical lectures in class and practiced at the training ground will be allowed to take the first end-of-course exam. Each student must take all the required subjects in the program.

Students are granted a National Defense Education Certificate when their average score for the subject is 5 points or higher and at the time of granting the certificate, the student is not being prosecuted for criminal liability. The National Defense Education Certificate is one of the conditions for graduation from college or university.

Certificates are not issued to students who are exempted from the entire National Defense and Security Education program.

For students who are not yet eligible for a certificate of National Defense Education (except in cases where they are being prosecuted for criminal liability), schools will immediately arrange for an additional semester and notify students of the study time to complete the program according to regulations.
