3 students tragically drowned in a lake in a temple

(Baonghean.vn) - After hiding in the lake of Phong Phan Pagoda in Nghi Xuan District (Ha Tinh Province) to bathe, 3 students from Le Viet Thuat High School (Vinh City) unfortunately slipped and drowned.

On the morning of July 24, Mr. Nguyen Trong Be - principal of Le Viet Thuat High School (Vinh City) said that 3 students, including 2 students of the school and 1 student preparing to transfer to the school, drowned in Phong Phan Pagoda lake, Xuan An town, Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh).

The identities of the three students include Tran Le Duc Anh (born in 1998, student of class 11A10, residing in block 4, Quang Trung ward); Nguyen Hoang Thinh (born in 1998, student of class 11D4, residing in block 5, Doi Cung ward) and Le Quang Tuan (born in 1998, residing in block 13, Truong Thi ward).

Initial information, from July 20-23, Phong Phan Pagoda organized a Buddhist summer camp for about 500 students to come and practice. At about 9:00 a.m. on July 23, the summer camp ended, all the students were notified by the pagoda to leave the pagoda and go home. At this time, there were 11 students from Vinh City who stayed to play.

At 6 p.m. on July 23, these children jumped over the fence into the temple lake to bathe. While bathing, because the lake was deep, 4 children lost their footing and drowned. Seeing this, friends standing nearby swam out and saved one person. The remaining 3 children were drowned and went missing.

The incident was quickly reported to the temple and local authorities. Upon receiving the news, Xuan An town police arrived, coordinated with the temple and the children's families to hire people and boats to search.

At 0:45 a.m. on July 24, the bodies of Anh, Thinh and Tuan were found and brought home for burial.

Representatives of the school leadership and the parents' association of Le Viet Thuat High School visited and encouraged the families of the three students who had the accident.
