3 breakthroughs in economic development in Tho Thanh

(Baonghean.vn) - After more than a year of implementing the Resolution of the 28th Party Congress of the commune, term 2015-2020, the Tho Thanh commune Party Committee has deployed an action program on socio-economic development, focusing on three key areas of economic development to gradually increase people's income.

Using transplanters in agricultural production in Tho Thanh

Implementing the resolution of the Commune Party Committee on developing small-scale handicrafts, Thang Loi Cooperative has focused on 3 areas: producing rattan and bamboo products for export, producing fine art wooden products and vocational training for rural workers. Accordingly, the Cooperative has an annual plan to provide vocational training for 60-180 workers, creating jobs for over 400 workers inside and outside the district, with an average income of 1.8-2.5 million VND/person/month.

Mr. Tang Tien Huynh - Chairman of Thang Loi Handicraft Cooperative said: Currently, the Cooperative is focusing on joint ventures with units to provide vocational training for rural workers, find output markets to consume products, ensuring that people can produce rattan and bamboo products continuously and develop sustainably.

To concretize the Congress Resolution, the Party Committee of the commune has developed 5 resolutions, 14 projects and 2 plans, in which focusing on economic development to increase people's income is identified as the key task. "Solving" the problem of employment and sustainable poverty reduction for the people, the commune focuses on the field of labor export, encouraging over 700 people to work abroad in European countries and countries in the region. Focusing on developing small-scale handicrafts, improving the operational efficiency of agricultural service cooperatives associated with developing the agricultural economy towards concentrated production.

Mr. Ho Sy Quang in hamlet 3 is considered one of the typical examples of getting rich from rice. In 2013, after the commune completed the land consolidation work, he boldly bid for 17 hectares of fallow land in the Con Dua field, investing more than 1 billion VND to improve the land, build an irrigation canal system and purchase agricultural machinery to serve production from land preparation to harvesting.

He was the first person in the district to put the transplanter into use, followed by the motorized pesticide sprayer, the combine harvester... Thanks to that, a large number of workers were liberated, saving hundreds of millions of VND in each production crop. He said: last spring, his family produced over 100 tons of C70 and DV108 rice varieties, after deducting all expenses, the profit was nearly 500 million VND, which will bring higher income in the future.

From resolutions and projects that are consistent with the local conditions, under the leadership of the Party Executive Committee, in the first 6 months of this year, Tho Thanh commune has achieved some remarkable results: Total production value at current prices is estimated at 121,544 billion VND (up 5.9% over the same period in 2015); economic structure has shifted in the right direction, average income per capita reached 2.7 million VND/person/month.

Using combine harvesters in rice harvesting

Economic development is the driving force for Tho Thanh commune to mobilize internal resources and people's strength to develop rural infrastructure. Up to now, the commune has completed upgrading and building 9 km of asphalt and concrete roads on the district route passing through the area and the commune road to ensure standards. In the first phase of the rural traffic construction campaign this year, 12/12 hamlets simultaneously responded and cleared 19 km of village roads before June. Accordingly, the hamlets agreed on an average contribution of 13 to 15 million VND per household to build concrete roads in the village. Up to this point, the commune has achieved 16/19 criteria in building new rural areas.
