Specifically, the welding of the S1L cable branch to Hong Kong is expected to be completed at 5:00 p.m. on August 22. The S1B branch to Singapore is expected to be completed at 5:30 p.m. on August 25.
Previously, the AAG management board also announced a postponement of the AAG cable repair date due to the storm. In total, the Internet connection from Vietnam to the international network was delayed for 23 days. During this time, domestic network service providers transferred the connection via AAG to neighboring cable lines to avoid affecting customers.
This is the first time the AAG submarine cable has had a double failure. The S1L line to Hong Kong was cut on August 2. Less than 24 hours later, the S1B line to Singapore also had a problem near the Changi landing station.
At the end of June, the AAG fiber optic cable also had a problem and was interrupted for 6 days due to a broken segment connecting Vietnam to the US and Hong Kong.
