30 months in prison for theft of property

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 5, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district held a mobile trial for defendant Vo Van Dinh, born in 1984, with permanent residence in Binh Minh hamlet, Nghia Hoi commune, Nghia Dan district, Nghe An province.

According to the indictment, at about 5:00 p.m. on October 20, 2014, Vo Van Dinh rode a motorbike into the construction site of the Nghe An wood processing factory (MDF) located in Nghia Hoi commune, Nghia Dan district, to get steel to build a chicken coop. He met Mr. Tran Dinh Tan and Mr. Du Ai Ngai, who were security guards on duty to protect the company's assets. Tran Dinh Tan did not allow Dinh to take the steel, but Dinh still went to the material storage warehouse to choose 11 construction steel bars with a diameter of 12, each bar was 1.25 m long, then tied them into bundles and placed them on the motorbike saddle. Seeing Dinh taking the steel from the company he was managing, Mr. Tan struggled, and the bundle of steel fell to the ground. Not allowing Dinh to take it back, being obstructed by Tran Dinh Tan, Dinh threatened Mr. Tan and Mr. Ngai, "Are you trying to make things difficult for me now? Do you still want to work here?" Knowing that Dinh was a local, in the past when he was angry with someone and made things difficult for them, he was beaten by Dinh, so Mr. Tan and Mr. Ngai let Dinh load the steel onto the motorbike and return. Previously, defendant Dinh had beaten workers and engineers who were working here three times without reason. Although he was administratively disciplined three times by the district police, Dinh still did not improve or correct his actions.

At the trial, considering that the defendant Vo Van Dinh had honestly bowed his head and admitted his guilt, the stolen assets had been recovered and returned to the company, however, Dinh's repeated actions caused confusion among the construction site staff, so the Trial Council decided to sentence Vo Van Dinh to 30 months in prison.
